This child looks like a survivor... not unlike his superhero top he's wearing.
This little one has the deepest look I've seen and he has probably seen more hardship in his short life than he ought to have.
Life in a concrete jungle, where the living is hardest!
Another home in Soweto.

The only solid home in the vicinty.
As one goes deeper into the township, living conditions become more difficult.
Amazingly, this is a local shop in the township. Apparently it also serves as a tavern. The owner was not in on this day so the shop was closed.
A rather imposing factory dominates the background of the settlement. For sure the polution just makes things worse for residents.
After a few minutes walking in Soweto, the stark reality of the situation hits hard.
A long view down one of the streets into the settlement.
A makeshift fence surrounds this home.
Another home in Soweto. Although it was sunny on this day, it was extremely cold. Yet another challenge for the residents to contend with. :-(
The first home photographed during the walk through a settlement in Soweto.
Stepping into Soweto on a company tour.
